PLASTIC INJECTION MOLD ENGINEER
Starting salary range: $55-65K, DOE.

Position
Summary:
This position exists to reduce defects in the plastic injection-molding department. This position is also heavily involved with plant floor improvements.
Technical Skills: 1.Four-year college degree in an engineering technology program or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program.
2.Mechanical aptitude is a must.
3.Must have as high level of judgment, analytic ability and creativity.

Contacts (Internal: Production supervisors, tool & die department, manufacturing services; External: Plastic resin suppliers, mold shops, plastic equipment suppliers):
The incumbent spends approximately 40% of his/her time working on molding process improvements on new and existing molds. He/she will also spend approximately 20% of his/her time developing plastics equipment improvements. 15% of his/her time will be spent on Existing mold improvements while 10-25% of his/her time is spent on new mold sampling and new mold improvements. The nature and purpose of these contacts is: meetings and discussions with internal and external contacts towards the design, tooling and review of new and existing mold and equipment improvements.
Working Conditions
This position occupies a typical production floor environment as well as a general open office environment. Exposure to weather elements is unlikely. Incumbents are not likely to drive a vehicle in the course of performing their job responsibilities. Incumbents spend approximately 15% sitting, 70% standing, and 15% walking in the course of performing their job responsibilities and are unlikely to handle materials weighing more than 40 pounds without mechanical assistance 15% of the time. Incumbents will use the following office machines in the course of performing their duties: computers, MS Office software, network monitoring software, printer, copier, fax, and calculator.
